Deborah Raikes-Colbert

Associate Vice President for Human Resources

Deborah Raikes-Colbert was named Associate Vice President for Human Resources in September 2012.

Deborah comes to Marist from Drew University in Madison, N.J., where she served as Director of Human Resources. In this role, she was responsible for all human resources programs and services including benefit plan design and administration, employee relations, policy development and implementation, compensation and classification, staff training and development, recruitment, retention, and regulatory compliance.

Previously, Deborah served as the Vice President for Human Resources at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., where she was a member of the President’s Executive Cabinet, and before that as the Assistant to the Vice President for Human Relations and Interim University Ombudsperson at Princeton University.

Deborah began her career in higher education as a librarian, working in the libraries of the University of Tennessee, Princeton, and the University of Delaware. She launched her human resources career at Delaware, where she served as personnel officer as well as associate librarian.

Deborah received both a BA and a Master’s of Library Service from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and has earned certificates in Human Resources and Labor Relations Studies from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
