Interim Dean, School of Communication and the Arts
Dr. Lyn Lepre was appointed interim dean of the School of Communication and the Arts at Marist College in July 2014. Dr. Lepre holds a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Florida and B.A. and M.S. degrees in journalism from Miami University and Ohio University, respectively. She also completed Harvard University’s Management Development Program.
Dr. Lepre's teaching and research interests are in journalism, particularly magazine writing and news editing. She co-authored the book, "Diversity and the U.S. Mass Media," published by Wiley-Blackwell Publishing in 2011. In addition, she has published articles in scholarly journals such as the Journal of Magazine & New Media Research and Journalism & Mass Communication Educator. Before joining the Marist faculty in 2008, Dr. Lepre taught at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and California State University, Chico. She also worked as assistant editor at Martha Stewart Living magazine.
During her time at Marist, Dr. Lepre has served as chair of the Communication Department and was, until her current appointment, assistant dean of the School of Communication and the Arts and director of the Honors Program. One of her most notable achievements was to lead the overhaul of the Honors Program in 2012, the first significant revision of that program in nearly ten years. She is editor of FoxTalk, a magazine published by the School of Communication and the Arts, and a member of the College's Marketing and Communication Group.
