Michael Silvestro was appointed Assistant Vice President for Human Resources at Marist College in April 2009. Mike has more than 20 years of experience in human resources management in higher education, and most recently served as Vice President for Human Resources and Institutional Effectiveness at Passaic County Community College (PCCC), located in Paterson, New Jersey.
Mike's responsibilities at PCCC included supervising the human resources program for 1,000 employees, serving as Affirmative Action Officer, and coordinating effectiveness and assessment activities for administrative functions. He has extensive experience in policy development, employee training, employee and labor relations, and contract negotiations. Mike has also taught college-level courses in human resources management, served as an instructor in a freshman orientation program, and conducted workshops on a variety of management topics. Prior to his position at PCCC, Mike served as Dean of Administrative Services at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, where he supervised the majority of campus operations.
Mike received a B.A. degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and a Master's of Public Administration degree from Long Island University. He has also completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University. Mike and his wife, Nancy, live with their three children in Monroe, New York.
