Sarah Johnson is Awarded Prestigious REU by National Science Foundation

Honors Junior Sarah Johnson (Chemistry/Mathematics) was awarded a Research Experience for Undergraduates(REU) by the National Science Foundation. Johnson will travel to Germany for three months this summer to study alongside Dr. Peter Schreiner at the Liebig-College at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen. For her REU Johnson will study tunneling effects in chemistry, as well as new organocatalytic reactions and methods as building blocks for complex materials. Johnson will work alongside students from China, Iran, Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

Johnson is not the first Honors student to be awarded an REU. In 2015 Emma Talis (Mathematics) completed an REU at the University of Nebraska. More information on Talis' REU can be found here.
