Do I Need Previous Academic or Professional Experience to Earn an Adult Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree?
Continue Your Education with Marist's Professional Studies degree
The Professional Studies Bachelor’s degree program through Marist College is an excellent opportunity for adult students interested in returning to school, transferring, or starting their degree. It allows non-traditional undergraduates to enhance their skills for careers in the industry of their choice.
Previous academic and professional experience is not required. Students who have completed prior academic credits or who have significant professional experience should consider completing a Prior Learning application to gain college credit toward the completion of their new degree. Prospective students can view the Prior Learning Chart to see which type of previous experience is considered and the application process for approval. Any adult student who thinks they may have previous experience that is eligible for credit, such as a portfolio or community service, can speak with an Admission representative to learn more about their credit options.
The Professional Studies program requires a total of 120 credits at the time of graduation. A maximum of 60 previous experience credits may be applied toward adult learner’s studies. On average, adult students complete 60 credits through their study programs.
