Luis Santiago, Director of Undergraduate Admission at Marist College, is entering his 17th year working in the admission profession. Luis is entered Marist through our Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and served as the admission program liaison for eight years.

As Director of Undergraduate Admission, Luis is responsible for a staff of seven full-time employees. He oversees application review, recruitment, and marketing. In his time at Marist he has seen applications double, selectivity increase, and diversity reach all-time highs.

On campus, Luis co-founded the Agents of Social Change, a mentor group for male students of color, in an effort to increase their retention. He is currently co-chairing the Marist Diversity Council alongside 25 other members of the campus in an effort to promote and advocate for diversity and inclusion.

Luis was elected and served a three-year term as College Delegate for the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC). In this position, he served on the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Assembly, electing NACAC Board officers and directors, amending the Statement of Principles and Good Practice, and making recommendations to the NACAC Board of Directors on association-related matters. He is currently serving on the NYSACAC Nominating Committee, overseeing the election of officers and delegates by the voting members.

In the community, Luis served a three-year term for the Walkway Over the Hudson Board of Directors, contributing to the economic vitality of the region and the Walkway vision to become a world-renowned destination welcoming a million visitors every year. He is a 40 Under 40 award recipient, which is bestowed annually to 40 people under the age of 40 who have shown a strong commitment to the Hudson Valley.

This year Luis agreed to serve on the College's 2018-2023 Strategic Planning Committee to help identify long-term strategies to position the College for success in today's higher education environment.
