Letter to the Editor of the Poughkeepsie Journal
On behalf of Marist College, I want to thank everyone in the Hudson River Valley region who helped make last week’s 20th Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling conference a great success.
From July 9 to 11, Marist College welcomed 1,050 attendees from 85 countries for what we believe was the region’s largest-ever international gathering.
Attendees took excursions to Rhinebeck, Esopus, New Paltz and Hyde Park, and enjoyed the beauty of the Hudson River as well as the Walkway Over the Hudson’s spectacular views. I have heard nothing but praise from attendees for the natural beauty, rich history, locally sourced food and wine, shopping and attractions that the Hudson River Valley has to offer.
Local leaders and businesses throughout Dutchess and Ulster counties played a key role in this success, helping smooth logistical challenges and showing off their businesses, organizations and the region at its best.
Marist College was chosen from a very competitive group of colleges vying to host this prestigious annual conference largely because we promoted our location in the historic Hudson River Valley and our proximity to all its wonderful offerings.
With the conference over, attendees have returned to their home countries with memories to share about what a great place the Hudson River Valley is to visit. Marist College is proud to call this region home and glad to host events like this, which have such a great impact on our local economy.
Thanks again to all of our local leaders, friends and neighbors who helped make it all possible.”

It was a pleasure hosting you and we hope you will let us know if you or your students will be visiting the New York or Italy campus.
