2009 Senior Class Gift Networking Reception

2009 Senior Class Networking Reception

More than 100 Marist alumni and seniors gathered at the McCann Recreation Center February 2 for the fourth annual Senior Class Networking Reception, sponsored by the Senior Class Gift Committee. This event was initiated as an opportunity for Marist seniors to expand their social network while getting some much needed advice on interviewing, salary negotiations, and first jobs from alumni in the field.

Alumni came from New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey to offer knowledge and expertise to members of the graduating class of 2009.  Paul Palmer, a class of 1984 graduate and producer at ESPN, was happy to share his experience with eager sports communication and radio/TV/film Julie Lavin, Senior Class Gift co-chairstudents. "When I was at Marist, one of the great things I remember was the way the school always had alumni return to talk to us about the industry, our majors, and more," he said. "I found those experiences to be invaluable, which is why I am happy to support these types of networking events. If I can help any of today's students, I am simply carrying on a great Marist tradition."

While this event was free for all alumni in attendance, the senior class used this event as an opportunity to raise funds for its Senior Class Gift. The Senior Class Gift Program is a longtime tradition at Marist in which seniors make a gift to the Marist Fund upon graduation. By supporting the Senior Class Gift, these seniors are helping to ensure that future Marist students have access to the same opportunities that they had, including scholarships, technology and facilities upgrades, study abroad and internship programs, and much more.

Many thanks to all the seniors and alumni who came out and made this such a successful event!

Seniors, be sure to look out for two more exciting events sponsored by the Senior Class Gift Committee coming in April!
