Meet Nick '13
Hometown: Mahwah, NJ
I am currently the director of Time Check, the male a cappella group, and have been involved with Chamber Singers, Chapel Choir, Jazz Band, and Guitar Ensemble. The faculty members are inspiring, the concerts are moving, and the students are driven. I look forward to returning to campus as an alumnus to see how students utilize the new space for the Music Department, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2013.
This past summer I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Rockefeller Center with Gabe Pressman at WNBC News Channel 4. Gabe is known as the “reporter’s reporter” and has respectfully interviewed countless American icons including Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, and Harry Truman. I had the privilege to work alongside him and help him with research for his stories. From the point of view of a communications major, the amount of behind-the-scenes experience I gained through this internship was invaluable.
One of my most enjoyable activities at Marist has been my participation in the Marist College Council of Theatre Arts (MCCTA). The program has given me countless memories as well as real-life experience. For two years I took on the role of technical director and led club members in set construction, lighting design, and sound operation. One man who helped me along the way was my mentor, Jim Steinmeyer ’71. Jim taught me how to use every tool in the woodshop and has provided me with meaningful life lessons along the way.
