At the present time classes

and the Marist College Fishkill Center.
Details will be distributed to active CLS members.
CLS membership is offered to all persons 55 or older with a desire for lifelong learning. Whether formal education ended early or advanced degrees have been earned, CLS provides members the opportunity to take part in a cultural and intellectual enrichment experience, in an enjoyable peer environment.
Because of the significant waiting list for CLS membership, the CLS Council adopted a policy in September 1998 to accept new members equitably only from the following four categories as openings become available:
The CLS Council recently approved a policy stating that individuals who become eligible for membership by reaching the top of the General Wait List, and upon being contacted to join ask for a deferral, shall be granted only one deferral applicable for the next membership admission period.
Although inclusion in the General Wait List is currently open to all, specific additional limitations may be imposed in the future, as approved by the CLS Council. Names on the lists may also be shared with other Mid-Hudson Valley ILR's for their own membership solicitations. Wait list members are required to notify the CLS Office of any changes in postal address, e-mail address or phone number.
Annual membership fee is $150 per person. The fee does not include books, transportation, and special social activities.
Full eight-week series of courses will be offered each spring and fall, plus a three-session mini-series in January. Courses will normally be in the arts, humanities, social sciences and general sciences, including, for example, topics in literature, film, history and current events. Classes are typically 75 minutes in length.
CLS members may register for up to six courses per semester. Whenever space is not filled by registered members, other members are also welcome to attend. An attendance sheet is circulated during each class session to provide statistical feedback to the speakers, class managers, and curriculum committee. Non-registered attendees are also requested to indicate their attendance so that the numbers are accurate and they can be notified in case of any future changes or cancellations.
Special events, as planned by the membership, may take the form of lectures, day trips, visits to artists' studios, exhibitions, picnics and the like.
If more members register for a specific class or Special Event than there is capacity for, a lottery is conducted. For classes, priority will be given reflecting the preference level indicated by the member on the registration form. For Special Events, efforts are made to asure that all registering members can attend at least one requested event per session.
Marist College campus privileges and activities are available to CLS members.
To assist Membership Committee personnel in assuring that participation privileges are not abused, CLS members are required to wear their badges at all classes, Special Events, and other CLS functions.
