FASH392N615 - New York Fashion Seminar - 3 credit course
This course is designed to encourage you to explore the wealth of cultural resources in New York and to broaden your horizons and look at familiar
things in a different way. You will complete two unusual assignments, which will stimulate you and encourage you to develop your research, visual,
verbal and presentation skills. The research is designed to help you find your way around New York and to familiarize yourself with hidden
locations and the complex layout and history of this vibrant metropolis.
You will be encouraged to explore the spectrum of retail environments in New York . from chaotic street markets to unique boutiques and edgy
designer stores, to identify emerging trends and looks. You will be encouraged to track new cult looks, which evolve from street style.
Students will be encouraged to use this course as an opportunity to involve themselves in private research work and really explore their full
creative potential. The aim is to alter your visual and sensory perceptions and to make you look at the world with a different perspective.
