This ensemble focuses in the performance of Gospel music through singing, playing and movement. While it is a performance course, the history of Gospel music and its centrality in African-American history is brought to light through class discussion and interaction. Open to all students, the only prerequisites are an inquisitive mind, love of music, and an open heart.
The Marist College Voices of Victory Gospel Choir embodies the universal love expressed through Gospel music in its rehearsals and performances. We are a team that works together to create the inclusive, cooperative, family environment that is necessary to produce true Gospel Music. We provide encouragement and a positive atmosphere for each other and the Marist community by spreading praise, joy, and energy through our songs and by performing community service. We make a conscious effort to embody and live the life about which we sing.
A student has the option to take Gospel Choir for one course credit or elect to earn priority points for participation in this group.
