35NationalScienceFoundationMajorResearchInstrumentationGrantAwarded2011Tethree-year678880MRIgrantpaidortheequipmentthatwentintothelabbuiltwiththeARIgrant.UsingtheseundstheSchooloComputerScienceMathematicswasabletopurchasethezEnterprisemainramesystemwiththezBladeExtensionzBXenablingacultystudentsandbusi-nessleaderstoconductintensivecomputingrelatedresearchprojects.TistechnologyislocatedinthenewlybuildNSF-undedEnterpriseComputingResearchLaboratoryintheHancockCenter.Facultyhaveidentiedresearchareasorthenewequipmentwhichincludelarge-scalebusinessanalyticsconvergednetworkingorstorageandinternetdevicesclassicalthermodynamicsmathematicalepidemiologycomputationalprojectsinunderwateracousticsandwavepropagationandenterpriselevelvirtualizationosystemresources.OfficeofNavalResearchGrantUnderwaterAcousticsWavesAwarded2010and2014Insummer2010ScottFrankassociateproessoromathemat-icswasawardedagrantromtheOfceoNavalResearchtostudycomputationaloceanacoustics.Inparticularcurrentnumericsolutionsotheparabolicequationdonotproperlyac-countorsourcessuchasexplosionsorearthquakesinanelasticoceanbottom.HesuccessullyimplementedaFortranprogramonMaristsEnterpriseComputingResearchLabECRLma-chinesanduseditextensivelytostudytheinteractionounder-wateracousticwaveswithanelasticoceanbottom.Specicallytheapplicationsolvestheacousticparabolicequationtoobtainaccuratetransverseandhorizontalwavedisplacementsinthesolidmaterialaswellasacousticpressureinthewater.Tegureshowsacoustictransmissionlossresultsoranacousticsourceinthewaterupperlayerinteractingwithanunderwa-termountainsecondandthirdlayers.TeECRLmachinescontinuetoprovideanimportantresourceorcontinuingthesestudiesandorexpandingtheworkorbroadbandcalculationswhichusetremendouscomputationalandstorageresources.Frankwasawardedandadditionalthree-yeargrantin2014tocontinuehisresearchtodevelopparabolicequationmethodstoanalyzetheeectsoelasticboundariesonacousticsignalsintheocean.NewYorkStateEconomicDevelopmentCorporationGrantAwarded2012AspartoGovernorAndrewCuomosRegionalEconomicDevelopmentInitiativeMaristCollegewasawardeda3milliongranttoestablishaCenteroExcellenceinCloudComputingandAnalyticsleveragingmanyotheexistingresourcesavailableintheNSFundedEnterpriseComputingResearchLabECRL.TegrantortheCloudComputingandAnalyticsCenterCCACenabledMaristtopurchasestate-o-the-artequipmentdedicatedtocloudinrastructureservicesandbigdataanalytics.TisequipmentalongwiththeexistinghardwareandsotwareintheECRLcanbeaccessedbytheNewYorkStatebusinesscommunityorresearchandearlystageprototypeprojectsresultinginjobgrowthandeco-nomicdevelopment.TereareseveralcomponentsotheCCACincludingananalyticscloudoeringthelatestbusinessintelligenceandpredictiveanalyticssotwareandservicestoNewYorkStatecompaniesanincubationcenterallowingaccesstocutting-edgetechnologiesorearlystagestart-upcompaniesandaworkorcedevelopmentcloudprovidingcriticaleducationandtrainingthroughthecloud.
