Understanding Self & Others

Understanding Self and Others group is a good fit for those experiencing anxiety, depression, or difficulty connecting with others. Members develop greater self-awareness by sharing personal experiences, expressing worries or fears, engaging in new ways to relate with others, as well as giving and receiving feedback in a safe and supportive environment. Do you ever feel emotionally confused and overwhelmed? These emotions can be hard to understand, let alone regulate, and telling yourself not to feel them doesn’t work. This group is for students who want to learn skills for identifying and understanding their emotions, overcome obstacles that get in the way of changing emotions and increasing positive emotional experiences. With practice and use, these skills can enhance one’s sense of personal and relational well-being. Interested students are asked to schedule a screening appointment before attending the group session by contacting Counseling Services at 845-575-3314.

Learn healthy techniques to quiet the mind, focus attention, reduce stress and tension, and have greater self-awareness. Mindful Mondays is a weekly gathering for students interested in meditation practice, guided imagery, and mind-body exercises. All you have to do is show up and relax!

Sanctuary is a safe space for survivors of sexual assault or rape.  Members meet weekly to receive and give support, increase social connections, build on their strengths, and share skills to overcome challenges.
