SUMMARY:Guest Lecturer: Bertram Malle of Brown University
DESCRIPTION:	\n"Myths of Freedom and Responsibility: How People Think abo
ut Free Will and How It Matters for Moral Judgment”\n\n\n\n\nProfessor
Bertram Malle's research examines the cognitive tools that humans bring t
o social interaction (often called "social cognition"), especially the ca
pacity to recognize intentional actions, make inferences about other peop
le's mental states, and explain people's behavior. Another focus is on ho
w those cognitive tools figure in moral judgment, especially blame. Other
topics of interest include people's conceptions of free will and the rel
ation between social cognition and language.
