SUMMARY:The Center for Sports Communication:  One-on-One with Bryant Gumbel
DESCRIPTION:A special conversation with one of the nation's premier sports
  broadcasters and host of HBO's Real Sports promises to be a dynamic exch
 ange touching on many of the issues, controversies, and personalities tha
 t are prevalent in the world of contemporary sports.  A Q&A session will 
 follow. \n\nBryant Gumbel is an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster and journa
 list, who began his 40-year career as a sportscaster at Los Angeles’s K
 NBC before going on to become a household name as co-host of the Today Sh
 ow  for 15 years. His current show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, has w
 on 21 Sports Emmys since it debuted on HBO in 1995. It is celebrated for 
 its in-depth features on professional and amateur athletes. \n\nIn conver
 sation with Gumbel will be Associate Professor Keith Strudler, director o
 f the Center for Sports Communication. Founded in October of 2011, the ce
 nter promotes the study and practice of sports communication by, among ot
 her means, bringing sports media professionals together with Marist stude
 nts.
