It is open to the public, and please encourage students who might be interested to attend what should be a very interesting evening. \n\nSport s writer and broadcaster Chris Mannix will speak at Marist College on Wed nesday, February 6, at 7 p.m. in the Nelly Goletti Theater on the second floor of the Student Center. Mannix will talk and answer questions about his experiences covering sports and offer advice to aspiring sports medi a professionals. The event is sponsored by the Marist College Center for Sports Communication. It is free and open to the public. \n\nMannix is be st known for his insider coverage of the NBA and professional boxing and covers both sports for Sports Illustrated, where he’s worked since 2003 . He is also the host of the Chris Mannix Show on NBC Sports Radio and i s the ringside reporter for Fight Night on NBC and NBC Sports Network. M annix has been a frequent guest on sports talk programs such as The Dan P atrick Show and ESPN’s Outside the Lines. \n\nMannix has also become we ll known for his writing about first-person experiences with athletes. F or example, he played guard in the NBA D-league, enrolled in bull riding school, and most famously sparred against boxer Juan Manuel Marquez. Gro wing up in Boston, Mannix started working in sports as a teenager as a lo cker room attendant for the Boston Celtics and by covering high school sp orts for the Boston Globe. He continued those roles while earning his un dergraduate degree in English from Boston College.
