Launch Party for ESPN Radio show, "The Classroom"
The Marist College Center for Sports Communication will launch its live radio show on ESPN 1220, a 10,000 watt affiliate based in the Hudson Valley. The show, called “The Classroom,” is the station's first locally produced sports show and is the first such partnership in the country, where an academic center runs a show through an ESPN affiliate. We will produce the show from our very own radio studio in the Lowell Thomas building. Student interns for the Center work all aspects of producing the show, starting with research and show planning on Monday morning to taking a mic during the show through running the boards for the final credit on Saturday, making this an exciting learning laboratory for our students. With all their help, I’ll be hosting the program along with Marist athletics play-by-play host Geoff Brault.
While we certainly hope you tune in each week, we’re going to kick of the first show with a listening party. So, everyone is invited to the lower level of Lowell Thomas this Saturday to watch and hear this historic first show. The party starts at 9:45 a.m. before the 10 a.m. live broadcast, which goes until noon. We’ll have food, and since it’s our first go at this, there will be plenty of comedy, intentional and otherwise.
