The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage week under President Johnson, and was expanded to a month by President Reagan and enacted into law in 1988.

Please join the Center of Multicultural Affairs in celebrating on Thursday, October 1 as they welcome Jay Blotcher, a longtime community activist for LGBT rights, AIDS policy reformation, and marriage equality. Jay co-founded New Paltz Pride and the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center.
