"Real Sports" Correspondent Jon Frankel to Speak at Marist
The Marist College Center for Sports Communication will present on Wednesday, Nov. 18, award-winning sports correspondent, network broadcast journalist, and documentary film producer Jon Frankel. Frankel will speak about the state of the sports broadcast journalism, ethical issues in modern sport, and the art of telling sports stories through documentary films. The event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Nelly Goletti Theater in the Marist College Student Center.
Frankel, a correspondent for HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel will be a regular fixture on the Marist campus during the upcoming spring semester, as he will be the inaugural "Distinguished Pro in Sports Communication" adjunct professor. This new initiative from the Marist College Center for Sports Communication brings top sports media professionals to teach a course in their area of expertise. As the inaugural professional adjunct, Frankel will teach a course called "Producing the Sports Documentary," where students from majors across campus will study and produce sports documentary films.
