Ryan Ruocco, ESPN & YES Network Host to Speak

Cornell Boathouse
The Marist College Center for Sports Communication will present on Thursday, April 16, ESPN TV and radio host and YES Television Network host and play-by-play talent Ryan Ruocco in conversation with Dr. Keith Strudler. Ruocco will discuss his quick ascent to the top of the sports broadcasting landscape, his experiences working with some of the biggest stars in the industry, and offer advice to aspiring sports broadcasters. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the Cornell Boat House located adjacent to the Hudson River on the Marist College Campus.

One of the hardest working people in sports media, Ruocco is co-host of the “Ruocco and Rothenberg” program heard daily from noon to 1 p.m. on ESPN New York. He is also a regular fill-in host for national programs such as “Mike and Mike” and “The Colin Cowherd Show.” Ruocco has called NBA, WNBA, college football, and college basketball on ESPN's various television networks. Ruocco is also a play-by-play host of NFL games on ESPN Radio and has regularly called college basketball and football games for the radio network.

On the YES Network, Ruocco is a play-by-play voice for the Brooklyn Nets. He also does both pre and post-game television for the Yankees on the network and is the host of the network program “This Week in the NFL.” Additionally, Ruocco has produced content for several of the network’s digital platforms. Ruocco was a member of YES' Nets broadcast team which won a 2014 New York Emmy Award for Best Live Sports Series. He also earned a New York Emmy nomination in 2015 for his work for the network.

Ruocco is a 2008 graduate of Fordham University, where, amongst other things, he hosted the program "One on One,” New York's longest-running sports call-in show, and provided play-by-play and color for numerous sports on WFUV. Ruocco was honored by the school in 2008 with the prestigious Marty Glickman Award, named for the legendary play-by-play announcer.

Dr. Keith Strudler, director of the Marist College Center for Sports Communication, will moderate the one-on-one discussion with Ruocco and discuss topics ranging from the state of the NBA to the evolution of sports television and radio. The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
