Wade Davis, Former NFL Player, Equality Advocate & Educator

The Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement welcomes Wade Davis, former NFL player, who will speak about LGBTQ issues in sports, masculinity, sexism, and social justice.

Davis played for the Tennessee Titans, the Washington Redskins, and the Seattle Seahawks, as well as for two different teams within the NFL Europe league. He became the NFL's first Diversity and Inclusion consultant in 2014, where he leads inclusion training sessions and national engagement initiatives, working to further create safe space in sports for LGBT athletes. He is currently at work on a book due out in 2017 that focuses on how masculinity, gender, sexual orientation, and more collide within the NFL.

International Education Week "Resume Workshop for Study Abroad Students"

Marist is excited to use International Education Week as a platform for a yearly celebration of the benefits from international education and exchange.

International Education Week was conceived as a joint initiative between the U.S. departments of State and Education, and is now celebrated annually in more than 100 countries worldwide. The initiative seeks to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States

Through a partnership of Marist International Programs, Marist Italy, Modern Languages, Career Services, and the Center for Multicultural Affairs,some events will be hosted on campus this week that continue the global engagement and focus of Marist College's students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

"Blaxploitalian: 10 Years of Blackness in Italian Cinema", Documentary Screening

The World Film Program presents a special screening of Blaxploitalian: 100 Years of Blackness in Italian Cinema, a film by Fred Kuwornu. This documentary uncovers the careers of a population of entertainers seldom heard from before: Black actors in Italian cinema.

Fred "Kudjo" Kuwornu is an activist, producer, director, and speaker born and raised in Italy and now based in Brooklyn. In addition to Blaxploitalian, Kuwornu has produced and directed the Award-winning documentary Inside Buffalo, and in 2012 released 18 IUS SOLI. His next project Afropolitan is a documentary about a contemporary concept of Pan Africanism.
