On Saturday, April 2, the College's Department of Modern Languages and Cultures will host the annual conference of ALOUD, the Association of Language Teachers of Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, and Surrounding Counties. Co-sponsored by the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers, the event will feature poster presentations by eight Marist students mentored by Associate Professor of Spanish Kevin Gaugler, who will introduce their work to conference participants. The students' presentations involve the innovative use of technology in language education--a topic crucial to this year's conference theme, "Growing Global Citizens from Kindergarten to University and Beyond."
The students' presentations include "Interpersonal Communication with Instagram" (Taylor Durand '18), "Community Learning with Social Media (Lucia Mercado '16), and "Interpretive Listening and Technology" (Christian John '18). This is the third year in a row in which Marist students have presented their work to this distinguished group of educators.
