Cardiovascular Health Awareness Lunch & Learn Workshop
The Marist College Heart Walk Team invites you to an informative Lunch & Learn workshop on cardiovascular health awareness, Friday March 24, 12noon-1pm in Donnelly 236A.
This program is free and open to all members of the Marist community.
The American Heart Association has adopted the Healthy For Good movement, meant to inspire you to create lasting change in your health and your life, one small step at a time. The approach is simple: Eat smart. Move more. Be well. With improved health literacy, you can: improve your health, recognize risky behaviors, learn about the disease process, lower your health care costs, and decrease your chances for hospitalization.
Our special guest speaker for this program is Dr. Melissa Schiskie, Director of Health Services at Marist College. Dr. Schiskie will present: Predictors, Prevention & Prescriptions: A Family Doc's Perspective on Cardiovascular Health Issues. She will review current recommendations on diets, exercise, and medications that can impact cardiovascular health. Dr. Schiskie is originally from the Kingston area and attended medical school at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island. She completed her Family Medicine residency in Binghamton, NY and practiced in primary care at the Institute for Family Health in Hyde Park. Dr. Schiskie has spent her career providing high quality care to patients across the spectrum of demographics. She is a wonderful teacher and mentor, having taught for the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency in Kingston, and currently directs the medical student clerkship for that organization.
Please bring your lunch with you and enjoy this special presentation.
The American Heart Association is bringing the Dutchess County Heart Walk right here to our beautiful Marist College Campus, on Saturday morning March 25th.
