Dr. Halbert Barton, LIU, Afro-Caribbean Cultural History Event

Description:

The Center for Multicultural Affairs, the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program have teamed up to offer an exciting event for all students, faculty, and staff. The School of Liberal Arts is co-sponsoring this event.

On Friday March 31, at 6:00 p.m., in the Nelly Goletti Theater (Murray Student Center), they will host "Bamboula to the Bayou, with Bomba in the Mix: Drumming, Dancing & Singing Afro-Caribbean Cultural History" - an interactive lecture/demonstration. The demo/lecture will be conducted by anthropologist and practitioner Dr. Halbert Barton, Long Island University, one of the foremost researches of bomba traditions.
