The Charlotte Cunneen-Hackett Lecture Series

Description:

The Charlotte Cuneenn-Hackett Lecture Series in Hudson River Valley History presents Dr. Myra Young Armstead on Thursday, April 27 in the Nelly Goletti Theatre at 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Myra Young Armstead is the Lyford Paterson Edwards and Helen Gray Edwards Professor of Historical Studies at Bard College. Her books include "Freedom's Gardener: James F. Brown, Horticulture, and the Hudson Valley in Antebellum America" and "Mighty Change, Tall Within: Black Identity in the Hudson Valley." Armstead was recognized with the Frederick Douglass Award from the Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History and is the recipient of numerous academic fellowships.
