Dr. Lauren Santangelo '06, Princeton University

Description:

Please join the Gillespie Forum and the School of Liberal Arts in welcoming
Dr. Lauren Santangelo '06 for her presentation, "Suffrage and New York
City." The lecture will be held at 7:00 PM, Wed. November 1st in the Murray Student
Center, Room 3101.

In 1917, women in New York State won the right to vote. Dr. Santangelo will
explore why the suffrage battle took so long, and trace how activists'
ever-evolving relationship with New York City informed campaign decisions
and priorities.

As a Marist student, Dr. Santangelo majored in History, and went on to earn
her Ph.D. at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She
now teaches at Princeton University.
