Kenneth Kurtz, Binghamton Univeristy

Description:

Marist College Cognitive Science Program presents speaker Kenneth Kurtz, Associate Professor of Psychology and Area Coordinator for Cognitive and Brain Sciences at Binghamton University, when he will speak on "What are Categories Made Of?"

Dr. Kurtz will discuss influential explanatory constructs in the psychology of human category learning from an information processing perspective. Focal questions to be addressed include:

1. What is the underlying nature of the computational problem?
2. What the strengths/weaknesses of competing approaches?
3. How does an emerging set of evidence from the laboratory impact the status quo?
