David Yellen, Marist College President, will address students interested in exploring the legal profession on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in HC 2023. President Yellen is consistently recognized by the National Jurist as one of the "Most Influential People in Legal Education."
President Yellen previously served as Dean and Professor of Law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Prior to his position at Loyola, he was a member of the faculty of Hofstra Law School, holding the Max Schmertz Distinguished Professorship and serving as Dean. He was also the Reuschlein Distinguished Visiting Professor at Villanova University School of Law and was a visiting professor at Cornell Law School and New York Law School. President Yellen advised U.S. President Bill Clinton’s transition team on white collar crime and argued a federal sentencing case before the United States Supreme Court. He served as a volunteer Special Master at the request of Chicago’s chief criminal court judge, served on the Illinois Sentencing Policy Advisory Council and was a member of the Board of Directors of Cook County Justice for Children. President Yellen served on the American Bar Association’s Task Force on the Future of Legal Education and its Standards Review Committee.
President Yellen earned his B.A. magna cum laude from Princeton University and his J.D. cum laude from Cornell Law School. After law school, he clerked for a federal judge, practiced law in Washington, D.C., and served as counsel to the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
