Announcing a Birthing Center in Ghana, West Africa

Chapel
Rev. Raphael Tawiah, an MBA Graduate Class of 2013 and a priest from the Sunyani Diocesis in Ghana, will celebrate a Mass in Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel announcing a birthing center in Ghana.

Following the Mass there is a reception and presentation in Hancock Center, room 2023. Father Raphael and Christina Vertullo, a faculty member in the School of Computer Science and Math, will discuss the need for improved and safe places of delivery in Sampa, a remote region of Ghana bordering on the Ivory Coast.

Christina Vertullo organized a mission to Ghana in 2011 and traveled with Marist students to Ghana in 2013. It is during this travel that she saw the need to improve the lives of the endearing Ghanaians.

This event will discuss the initiative to provide water to the birthing center under the Marist umbrella of "Water for the World."

Donations will be gladly accepted and can be made by writing a check to Marist College with "Water for the World" on the memo line.

Project Animal Rescue: A Community Awareness Film

Nelly Goletti Theatre
This short educational documentary created by volunteers to promote education to potential adopters highlights a day in the life at area shelters for domestic animals - cat, dogs, horses and smaller pets. The film is explored through the eyes of the animals and is a powerful tool that engages audiences to witness the process of maintaining a rescue facility and spread the knowledge learned to others.

The film's goal is to share resources available to assist with reducing overpopulation, the spread of disease, and addressing animal cruelty and neglect, to name a few topics.

This event is co-sponsored by Marist FOX P.A.W (People for Animal Welfare). The screening to be followed by activities until 6pm. To see a brief teaser http://youtu.be/_FeYe3-18v0
