Peter Bregman is CEO of Bregman Partners, Inc., a global management-consulting firm that advises CEOs and their leadership teams. He speaks, writes, and consults about how to lead and how to live. He is the author of 18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done, winner of the Gold Medal from the Axiom Business Book awards, named the best business book of the year on NPR, and selected by Publisher's Weekly and the New York Post as a top 10 business book of the year. Peter has been featured on PBS, ABC, and CNN. He is also a regular contributor to Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Forbes, National Public Radio (NPR), Psychology Today, and CNN, as well as a weekly commentator on Fox Business News.

Rudy Giuliani is the renowned 107th Mayor of New York City (1993-2001). Under his leadership, he reduced the overall crime and murder rate to make New York City the safest large city in America. Just when New Yorkers were beginning to enjoy the city's revitalization, the unimaginable hit on 9-11. Giuliani swiftly marshaled his remarkable leadership skills to pull his city, and perhaps the entire nation, through the crisis. Brad is also the co-creator of the TV show Jack & Bobby and co-founder of City Year Miami.

Why Morality-Free Economic Theory Does Not Work

Professor Luigino Bruni, from Milan, Italy, economist and author, will challenge the assumption that markets can provide morally neutral zones for the exchange of goods among free persons, with minimal constraints. Dr. Robert Manning will respond to Professor Bruni and there will be time for questions and answers.
Relational ethics has been increasingly a subject of interest across many disciplines. We hope this event will open a dialogue among students and faculty from various departments on this topic.

Guest Lecturer: Bertram Malle of Brown University

"Myths of Freedom and Responsibility: How People Think about Free Will and How It Matters for Moral Judgment”


Professor Bertram Malle's research examines the cognitive tools that humans bring to social interaction (often called "social cognition"), especially the capacity to recognize intentional actions, make inferences about other people's mental states, and explain people's behavior. Another focus is on how those cognitive tools figure in moral judgment, especially blame. Other topics of interest include people's conceptions of free will and the relation between social cognition and language.

This fall Marist Theatre/MCCTA will perform Peter Barnes's play "Red Noses," a comedy about the black death in the fourteenth century. The play depicts a priest traveling across medieval France with a band of fools that offer holy assistance to plague victims. It is directed by Jim Steinmeyer.

Dance Ensemble Presents Danceathon to End Dating Violence

October is Dating Violence Awareness Month. Dance Ensemble and Heart1 will be teaming up and hosting a "Dancing to End Dating Violence" We are hoping to get as many participants as possible seeing as how all proceeds will be going to the Battered Women's Services and the Grace Smith House. There will be 2 ways to participate in this event. The first is by signing up to dance in the marathon. There will be an entrance fee of $2, in addition to a goal to raise as much money as possible for the organizations mentioned above. Those who sign up to dance will be asked to find people willing to sponsor them and the cause.
