MAJ James Golby, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of America Politics, Policy & Strategy at the U.S. Military Academy. He served two tours in Iraq and was awarded the MacArthur Army leadership award in 2008. He holds a B.S in American Government (USMA) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University.

This talk is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. Light refreshments will be available.

Andrei Buckareff, an Associate Professor at Marist, will give a talk on “Why Falsely Believing that Whiskey Will Quench Your Thirst Can be a Motivating Reason for Action.” Prof. Buckareff’s research interests are in metaphysics of mind and agency. He also has research interests in the philosophy of religion.

Baseball Legend Bobby Valentine to Speak at Marist

The Marist College Center for Sports Communication will host a talk by former Major League Baseball player and manager Bobby Valentine. Valentine, who also has worked as a television analyst for ESPN and other sports networks, will answer questions about his life experience in all facets of the game.

Dr. Keith Strudler, director for the Marist College Center for Sports Communication, will moderate the one-on-one discussion with Valentine, covering topics from the state of baseball to different challenges in each of his roles. The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

Author, playwright, and performance artist Kate Bornstein will deliver the keynote address, "World Peace through Gender Anarchy and Sex Positivity," at the 22nd Annual Women & Society Conference, which will take place at Marist College Oct. 25 -26.

This feminist conference is interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary, covering all aspects of women & gender being studied in the academy. The conference mentors and models feminist inquiry/scholarship for undergraduate students. Scheduled presenters include academics from colleges and universities around the country, as well as from the University of Oxford and the University of Karachi, Pakistan.
