Student Phonathon associates are essential to Marist College’s mission at community, service and giving back. A phonathon caller ultimatly impacts the success of the Marist Fund, while maintaining relationships between alumni and parents and the College. Phonathon callers contact thousands of alumni and parents each year to ask for their support of Marist College.
Phonathon callers speak with alumni, and parents about their experiences and update them with campus happenings. With thousands of alumni and parents, this phone call could be their one opportunity to connect with an actual student, to hear about the college updates, to share stories, and to keep attuned with their alma matter. They are expected to act professionally at all times while strengthening relationships between the College and its supporters. This position requires excellent communication skills, a problem-solving mentality, the ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment, and a genuine affinity for Marist College. Dispatchers’ should have very good interpersonal and customer service skills. Dispatchers will take service requests over the phone and enter them into a data base. They will communicate with the maintenance staff in person and over the radio to insure that they are aware of any service requests outstanding and communicate with any others as necessary to assist in the expeditious completion of service requests. Various other clerical tasks will be performed as described in the dispatcher procedures or requested by the mechanical services supervisor.
Dispatchers should have demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in MP2 or similar computer programs. Experience with Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Access and effective writing skills and interpersonal skills are also required. Individuals must be able to maintain a working relationship with all employees of the College as well as students requiring maintenance support. They must also promote positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, vendors and employees. The Dispatch office is a work environment personal visitors are discouraged.
