Min HS Graduation; Required Experience & Skill Set: Basic Math; Basic Science; Construction; Hand Tools; Power Tools; Data Recording; Hand-Held Electronics; Must be able to write & speak English; Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setup of sampling/monitoring equipment, sample collection, data recording & log keeping . Prior to employment, each Trainee shall be required to pass a Pre-Employment Physical which includes an OSHA Respirator Medical & Pre-employment Drug Screening. Trainees shall be over 18 Years old, shall have reliable car for transportation that is available for the full work day for travel and transport of equipment to & from their assigned work locations. Need full time access to a reliable Vehicle to transport yourself and project equipment (e.g. small pumps, hand-held equipment, etc). CANNOT just have "transportation" (e.g. friend, spouse, significant other) that can "drop them off." The temporary summer employment is for the position of Air Sampling Technician/Project Monitor to oversee the conduct of abatement/remediation projects, collect air samples and review compliance during conduct of work. The work will involve typical construction tasks; being outside for extended shifts, entering confined spaces, crawlspaces, boiler rooms, climbing ladders/scaffolding, working on elevated surface, working long hours and working nights/weekends as required to support the projects. A training class, with work to follow. Training will begin on or about 5/27/13. The employment duration will vary based on project work load & typically lasts through end of July/mid-August. Training will typically involve 10 hrs/day for 5 Days or 8 Hrs/day for 6 Days. QuES&T will cover cost of training course tuition & NYS certification fees. The training will be 5 - 6 days. NYS asbestos training for 2 certifications & 3 curriculums. NYS Project Monitor & Air Sampling Tech Certifications plus an OSHA 10 hr construction safety card. OJT will begin upon satisfactory completion of the training. The position pays $12/hr for ST & $18.00/hr OT, as applicable. Upon successfully completing the temporary employment period a $1/hr bonus will be paid for each hour worked. Candidates that are either "terminated for cause" or quit, forfeit the $1/hr bonus. Job site requirements involve use of PPE; including use of respiratory protection equipment. Employees shall be responsible to provide steel tip shoes & weather appropriate personal outer clothing @ their own expense and be/remain clean shaven on a daily basis. Balance of required PPE (e.g. Hardhats, reflective vests, eye-protection etc.) will be provided, by QuES&T, for their use and shall be properly worn at all times on the work site.
