To make your semester as hassle free as possible, we have listed some things you may need to know.
STUDENT ID CARDS/PARKING PERMITS: You should have received your Marist ID card. If not, please let us know. If you are a new student, it is in the works. You will need this to utilize the James A. Cannavino Library's on line services. You can access the library on the web at library.marist.edu". If you will be visiting the library in person, you will need a parking permit for the Poughkeepsie campus. We have the forms for this and will gladly help you acquire the required permit. You will be fined without the proper sticker affixed to your car.
MARIST STUDENT SERVICES: In order to use some of the online services such as Course Descriptions, Class Availability, Student Audit, Student Financial Services, and Student Schedules and Grades, you will need a Marist account. Contact the Help Desk at 575-3000 x4357 to get this account. To access these services, go to www.marist.edu/currentstudents/.
ORDERING TEXTBOOKS: For your convenience, you can order your textbooks on line at http://marist.bncollege.com (please note: there is no www). Complete directions are attached. Of course, you can still visit the bookstore in person if you'd like.
DROPPING A CLASS: If you decide not to attend a class for which you have registered, you must fill out a drop form by the specified add/drop date or you will be responsible for paying any tuition and fees for that course.
WRITING ASSISTANCE: Many students are unaware of the services provided by the Writing Center at Marist College. They offer one-on-one tutoring free of charge if you are having trouble with any writing project for your classes. The Academic Learning Center also offers a proofreading service. They even have an Online Proofreading service at http://www.marist.edu/academics/alc/.
PHOTOCOPYING POLICY: Please plan ahead for your photocopying needs as the staff of the Fishkill Center cannot make free photocopies for students. College policy prevents us from providing free copies for students and we simply do not have the personnel to provide copy center services. In an emergency we can do a job of no more than a total of 5 pages at 10 cents per copy. Exact change is needed.
A/V EQUIPMENT: If you need any audio/visual equipment for an upcoming class, please let us know 24 hours in advance so that we can have the classroom set up for you. Students may not download anything on to the computers in the classrooms.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event of inclement weather, please visit the Marist website, call our weather hot line at 845-575-5500 after 3:00 PM, listen to local radio stations or subscribe to MaristAlerts on Twitter to learn about class cancellations and delays.
