Alpha Sigma Lambda: Gamma Eta Chapter
In 1982 Marist College began the Gamma Eta Chapter for the nationally recognized non-traditional student honor society, Alpha Sigma Lambda.
History of Alpha Sigma Lambda
Founded in 1945 by Dr. Rollin B. Posey, Dean of University College at Northwestern University, Alpha Sigma Lambda is the oldest and largest chapter based honor society for full and part time non traditional undergraduate students.
Membership Criteria
Membership is by invitation only and is reserved for students at senior level standing (at least 90 earned credits). Of those 90 credits, 30 credits must be graded / earned at Marist and a student must have an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher. All preceding completed semesters are evaluated.
Induction Ceremony
Induction ceremonies are held annually in the Spring semester in April or May. There is a one-time membership fee and inductees take an oath of membership at the ceremony. Inductees also receive honor stoles that can be worn at graduation, a membership certificate and an honor society pin. Inductees are encouraged to bring family and friends to bear witness to this honor as well as enjoy a reception after the ceremony.
