Sorority Recruitment

Formal recruitment is a mutual selection process that provides women interested in joining a sorority the opportunity to get to know the sororities and the sorority women. There are three different "rounds" of events where interested women are potentially provided with the opportunity to get to know more about the sororities.

Requirements to participate in the Formal Recruitment process:

  • Enrolled for one semester (transfer students may participate)
  • Hold a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above (Suggested GPA-Some organization require a higher GPA)
  • Registered with the Office of Student Conduct and Greek Affairs

Rho Chi's (Recruitment Counselor): Are individuals that disaffiliate from their respective sororities in order to facilitate the Recruitment process for potential new members (PNMs) and provide them with an unbiased and informed perspective. During the week of Formal Recruitment, Rho Chi's will have a group to guide through the process. Each RC will explain the process to PNMs, help them reach difficult decisions, and be their confidential soundboard. The RC's as well as the Panhellenic Executive Board's sorority affiliation will be concealed to all but will be revealed to the PNMs on Bid Day when they re-affiliate with their chapters.

New Members Rights:

As you go through the Recruitment process, it is important to understand how much we respect you and your decision to go through Recruitment. It is our goal to make sure all potential new members feel comfortable and excited about going through Recruitment and have fun throughout the entire week. Not all women receive their number one choice and/or be selected by a chapter.  We are unable to guarantee every potential new member (PNM) a bid from a sorority.  We encourage you to be aware of this fact and to consider this potential disappointment as you go through the recruitment process.  Furthermore, sorority recruitment events do not involved men or alcohol.  If at anytime, a potential or new member feels uncomfortable please contact the Director of Student Conduct and Greek Affairs.
