Marist-Mod'Spe Paris Fashion Program

A unique, fashion-themed study abroad program, with coursework in English, available to Marist as well as non-Marist participants.

Study abroad with Marist College and The Mod’Spé Institute

Experience in-depth fashion study at the center of the French fashion industry.

Marist College and Mod’Spé Paris have partnered to offer students a full semester of study that is highly-focused on international fashion.

  • An outstanding opportunity for students interested in a fashion industry career.

  • Live in secure student housing in the beautiful Latin Quarter of Paris.
  • Explore fashion merchandising, product development, trend forecasting, and more.
  • Examine French culture, fashion history, and language.
  • Enjoy classes that are conducted in English (excluding French language study).
  • Also available: A full year of study, plus internships in Paris for qualified students.

The program runs fall and spring semesters. An optional six-week summer internship (basic conversational French required) is available for students who have completed at least one semester on the program. This is a small, highly-focused program created for Fashion Merchandising Majors or Minors or other students who seek a fashion-intensive study program in Paris.  

Program participants include students from the Marist Fashion Program as well as students of fashion from the U.S. and other countries. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact and network with French students at the Mod'Spe Institute. 

 Academics

Academic options vary by semester including such courses as Intercultural Management, Product Development, Textiles, Fashion Trend Forecasting, Production and Sourcing, and other options, as well as French culture and language. Coursework is designed to take full advantage of Paris as "the classroom" and will examine the historical and contemporary context of fashion. Participants gain key insight into fashion merchandising through classroom as well as experiential activities and assignments, industry visits, and workshops.  About Mod’Spe

L'Institut Supérieur Spécialisé de la Mode, better known as Mod’Spe Paris, is a well-known and highly-respected fashion business school which offers fully accredited bachelor and master degree programs. Created in 1993 as an initiative of professionals from the French Federation of Women's ready-to-wear (la Fédération Française du Prêt-à-porter Féminin) and supported by the French public authorities via the Committee for the Development and Promotion of Apparel and Textiles (Défi), Mod’Spe Paris prepares its students to become highly qualified fashion marketers enabling them to integrate men's wear, women's wear, children's wear, athletic wear, intimate apparel, cosmetics, fragrances, luxury goods, and accessories.

Admission Criteria

  • Minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
  • Sophomore level standing or higher at the time of study abroad.
  • Academic Advisor approval of program and coursework.
  • Non-Marist students must complete a telephone interview with program staff.

Program Costs

Tentative semester program fees are $20,200, and include tuition and fees, double-occupancy housing (breakfast included), and health insurance. In most cases, Marist students can use their financial aid to support study on the program. A limited amount of financial assistance is available for non-Marist applicants. Applicants are advised to apply early to receive full consideration.
