IBM Notes

Beginning July 9 and continuing through the 2017-2018 Academic Year, IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) users will be moved into the Marist Mail system.  Marist Mail offers exciting new services to IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) users, such as collaboration tools and additional mail storage.


Q: Why are you switching to Marist Mail?
A: Marist Mail enhances the IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) user experience by offering access to additional collaboration tools and a streamlined design.

Q: What are some of the benefits to Marist Mail?
A: Some of the benefits to Marist Mail include:

  • A larger mail file
  • A shared directory of all continuing Marist faculty, students, and staff
  • Collaboration tools such as document sharing and management, chat, and community groups
  • Mobile applications
  • Use of your Marist account and password to login to email (single sign on)

Q: Do the collaboration tools offered in Marist Mail replace iLearn?
A: The collaboration applications in Marist Mail do not replace iLearn.  The tools in Marist Mail are intended to provide users with additional ways to collaborate with peers, faculty, students, and colleagues.

Q: Do I need to do anything to move to Marist Mail?
A: If you use the desktop client for IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) access, you will need to verify that your Contacts are also in iNotes (  If you find a discrepancy in your Contacts, please reach out to the Help Desk for assistance.  All other prerequisites will be addressed prior to your move to Marist Mail.

Q: Will my email address change?
A: Your email address will not change.  The same email address you use today such as for example, will continue to be your email address.

Q: I am a current IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) desktop client user.  Can I still access my desktop client?
A: Marist Mail is a web-based email system that you will be able to access through any browser or mobile device.  You will no longer require a desktop client to access email.

Q: What will happen to the current email in my IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) account?
A: The email in your IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) account will be moved to the web-based Marist Mail system.

Q: When will I be moved to Marist Mail?
A: Beginning July 9 and continuing through the 2017-2018 Academic Year, IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) users will be moved into the Marist Mail system based on school or department.  Users will receive an email approximately one week prior to the move with instructions.  Training sessions will also be provided to all users prior to moving to Marist Mail.

Q: How will I know that I have been moved to Marist Mail?
A: You will receive an email in your IBM Notes (Lotus Notes) account with the subject: Welcome to Marist Mail!  This email will contain instructions on how to log in to your Marist Mail account.
