VPN Access

The purpose of the Virtual Private Network (VPN) is to provide a secure connection to the Marist network while connecting with a traditional phoneline Internet Service [example: MSN|, or while using a high-speed Internet Service Provider [example: cable modem or DSL], or to connect to the Marist wireless network while on campus.

VPN does not enhance connection performance or provide additional functionality. VPN will not bypass most limitations in place by Internet Service Providers (ISP) such as bandwidth control. Those who connect to the Internet via providers like BestWeb or Verizon could use VPN when they need a secure connection to the Marist Network.

Requirements:

  1. Current status as faculty, staff, special contract employee, or student of Marist College.
  2. A machine with either the Windows© or Linux operating system. (At this time, only the Windows version of the VPN client will be supported by Marist).
  3. Connect by using the Cisco VPN client application available for download here.
