Purchasing a Computer

The Computer Store offers two options for purchasing.

Bringing a Computer

  1. ResNet provides full support for Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Mac OSX 10.7 or higher. Please check the OS Support page for more information.
  2. For recommended specifications please check the Bring Your Computer page
  3. McAfee Antivirus software is preferred to connect to the Marist network. Please check the Antivirus Software page for more information. 

Connecting Your Computer

  • Wireless

    Windows 8.1, Windows 8 & Mac OSX
    1.  Click on the FoxNet wireless network.
    2.  Enter your Marist credentials, click "Connect."
    3.  Launch a web browser.
    4.  Read and agree to the Marist College Acceptable Use Policy and click "Accept."
    5.  After accepting the Acceptable Use Policy your computer is ready to use the network.

    Windows Vista & 7
    1.  Click on the Marist  Windows WiFi Setup network, click "Connect."
    2.  Open a web browser.
    3.  Click on the "Marist Windows WiFi Configurator" and run the setup program.
    3.  Click on the FoxNet wireless network, click "Connect."
    4.  Enter your Marist credentials, click "OK."
    5.  Launch a web browser.
    6.  Read and agree to the Marist College Acceptable Use Policy and click "Accept."
    7.  After accepting the Acceptable Use Policy your computer is ready to use the network.

    Mobile Devices
    1.  Click on the FoxNet wireless network.
    2.  Enter your Marist credentials, click "Connect."
    3.  Launch a web browser.
    4.  Read and agree to the Marist College Acceptable Use Policy and click "Accept."
    5.  After accepting the Acceptable Use Policy your device is ready to use the network.
  • Wired
    1.  Plug the Ethernet cable into the network port.
    2.  Launch a web browser.
    3.  Enter your Marist credentials into the web client and click "Continue."
    4.  Read and agree to the Marist College Acceptable Use Policy and click "Accept."
    5.  After accepting the Acceptable Use Policy your computer is ready to use the network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I required to bring my own computer?
No. You are not required by the college to bring a computer but the vast majority of students have their own computer. The Donnelly computer lab is open 24/7 with computers available for use to the student.

Should I buy a Mac or PC?
Both Mac and Windows are used and supported on campus. For purchasing a computer it is the personal preference of the student on which computer to purchase. Both Mac or Windows will be able to connect to the Marist network and run the required network software.

Do I need my own printer?
Students can bring a USB printer to connect to their computer if they want. Wireless printing is NOT allowed on the Marist network and will not work. Printing is also available to the student in any of the general labs around campus.

Can I use my own Antivirus software?
Yes. Marist College prefers all students to use the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise software provided by Marist. The software is provided free of charge by Marist College and updates automatically, every day. For more information please visit the Antivirus Software page.

Can I connect my gaming console or multimedia device to the network?
Yes. The student will have to add the MAC address of the device to the Network Self Service web page. For additional details and instructions see the Game Console Network Access Guide.

Will there be someone to help me set up my computer?
Yes. ResNet is here to help all students with computer related problems. On move-in day ResNet will be located in the Student Center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to help students get their computer's on the network.
