Vendor/Guest/Event Accounts

What type of account are you looking for?

Vendor - Sponsored contractor account that needs access to Marist resources.

Guest - Short term, sponsored account that is needed to access Marist services.

Event - Limited account to allow network access for events, up to fourteen (14) days.

 

Those who have a vendor, guest, or event account will have internet access to check email, etc.

Personal computers may be brought for use on campus with each type of account.  Below are the requirements for specific Operating Systems:

Windows

  • To access network resources open a web browser to be re-directed to the login page.  Use Marist account credentials to login.
  • Can use the Cisco NAC (Network Admission Control) web agent instead of installing the Client on the PC.
  • Current version of Java is required to run the Cisco NAC web agent.
  • Some form of "mainstream" anti-virus, with the most current .DAT files (virus definitions), is required.  If you do not have anti-virus software, a free program, like Avast, is also acceptable.
  • The latest available Windows updates are required.
  • User needs the ability to install any missing requirements (Administrative Access).
  • Windows Operating Systems prior to Windows XP are not allowed on the network. (Win95/98/ME, etc.)
  • To use the Wireless network, the Cisco VPN client is required.

Mac

  • To access network resources open a web browser to be re-directed to the login page. Use Marist account credentials to login.
  • Mac Operating Systems prior to Mac OS 10.5 are not allowed on the network (Mac OS 9, Mac OS 10.3, Mac OS 10.4, etc.)
  • Can use the Cisco NAC (Network Admission Control) web agent instead of installing the Client.
  • Some form of "mainstream" anti-virus, with the most current .DAT files (virus definitions), is required. If you do not have anti-virus software, a free program, like ClamAV, is also acceptable.
  • The latest available Mac OS software updates are required.
  • User needs the ability to install any missing requirements (Administrative Access).
  • To use the Wireless network, the Cisco VPN client is required.  (Cisco VPN comes with Mac OS 10.6.)

Linux

  • To access network resources open a web browser to be re-directed to the login page. Use Marist account credentials to login.
  • Must have Java plugin installed for their web browser to run Cisco NAC web agent.
  • Having all of the latest patches and updates is recommended.
  • To use the Wireless network, the Cisco VPN client is required. Wireless access is dependent on Linux distribution and version.

 iPad with App

  • Open the App Store.
  • Search and install the Cisco AnyConnect App.
  • Open the App and click on Add VPN Connection.
  • Add Server Address v1.marist.edu and click Save.
  • Turn on the App.
  • Click the group and select Vendor/Event/Guest.
  • Sign in with Marist account and click Connect.

iPad with VPN

  • Directions for using the iPad with VPN can be found on the VPN Access Page.

Please note that to use a vendor or guest account from off campus you will be required to use the Cisco VPN client in order to access certain Marist services.
