Networking Options in a Wide Variety of Fields

 aie
Participants in the Albany Internship Experience interact with area professionals
not only through their internships, but also via the "Nonprofits and State Politics"
seminar course taken as part of the program. Guest speakers from the fields of
government, political communication, journalism, and nonprofit fields regularly deliver
presentations to students in the seminar course. Site visits constitute another key
aspect of the course. As depicted in the photo above, for example, AIE participants
recently visited NY State Senator Sue Serino's office and met with the Senator's Chief
of Staff, Caroline Chauvin, as well as Marist alumnus Christopher Molluso, who serves
as Chief of Staff for NY State Senator Thomas Croci.

   On another occasion, students
had the chance to meet with Brian
Cechnicki (at right), the Director of
Education Finance for the New York
   State Education Department. Such
   conversations enable students to
gain a firsthand sense of how policy-
   making theories translate into practice
   within specific governmental offices
   and agencies.
