Networking Options in a Wide Variety of Fields
ASIP interns interact with area professionals through their internships and through the Internship in Context seminar sessions in the program. Experts in the fields of government, political communication, journalism, and nonprofit fields regularly deliver presentations to students in the seminar course. Site visits constitute another key aspect of the course. In the photo at left, AIE participants visited NY State Senator Sue Serino's office and met with the Senator's Chief of Staff, Caroline Chauvin, as well as Marist alumnus Christopher Molluso, who serve as Chief of Staff for NY State Senator Thomas Croci.
On another occasion, students had the chance to meet with Brian Cechnicki (at right), the Director of Education Finance for the New York State Education Department. Such conversations enable students to gain a firsthand sense of how policy-making theories translate into practice within specific governmental offices and agencies.
