Albany Summer Internship Program Director Biography
Dr. Krista Applebee joined Marist College as Director of the Albany Summer Internship Program in 2012. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration from LeMoyne College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs at the University at Albany, SUNY.
Dr. Applebee has nearly a decade of experience working in the New York State Senate. She began in the Senate as the Richard J. Roth Journalism Fellow followed by many years directing communications for a New York State Senator subsequently serving as Director of Student Programs.
As Director of Student Programs Dr. Applebee was responsible for all aspects of student work in the Senate. In this capacity she designed and executed the Undergraduate Session Assistantship and Graduate Fellowship Programs overseeing all placements. She created and managed a student orientation program, weekly academic seminars, and was responsible for the marketing and oversight of the program.
Together with the Center for International Development, SUNY, she administered an International Fellows Program bringing students to the New York State Senate from countries such as Morocco, Kenya, and Ghana. Dr. Applebee has also participated in panels exploring the merits of experiential education including the New York State Political Science Association Conference.
