Hometown: New York, NY

Placement: Catholic Charities

A brief description of my organization: “Catholic Charities is a community organization that helps provide resources for the poor and vulnerable in the community. They specialize in providing services for families, the deaf and blind, and immigrants.”

My role at the organization: “I am interning in the Office for New Americans which helps with immigrant populations in the area. My main project is to create a community resource guide for Catholic Charities that their clients can use. The purpose of the community resource guide is to highlight which services certain immigrants can access according to their immigration status. On a regular basis I also help with client intake, helping take down their information to be given to the attorneys for their case. I am also helping out with registration for ESL classes and ESL tutoring.”

How Tarver is important to my future endeavors:

“Ideally, after graduation I would love to work with marginalized populations helping to provide them with the resources and services they need. My current placement is helping me to gain experience on the type of work it takes to handle these situations.”
