English Alumnus Derek Dellinger '07 to Discuss New Book

English majors’ creativity and versatility are exemplified in the career of Derek Dellinger ’07, an English alumnus who will deliver a talk about his new book on Tuesday, November 15, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Henry Hudson Room of Fontaine Hall. This event is free and open to the public.

Since graduation, Mr. Dellinger has worked in the New York City publishing industry; become a proficient brewer of craft beer; blogged about his food and travel adventures; and, most recently, written The Fermented Man (Overlook Press, 2016). As Mr. Dellinger explained in a recent interview with Hudson Valley Magazine, the book recounts a full year in which Mr. Dellinger ate only fermented foods such as sauerkraut and yogurt. Praised in Chronogram for his "Hemingwayesque sense of personal adventure," Mr. Dellinger will share both his experiences as a writer and the insights about he gained during his year-long experiment in "cultured" eating.
