Liberal Arts in Action

Students with a flair for drama take part in a variety of Marist Theatre Program productions, including this Fall 2012 production of the comedy <em>Red Noses<em>.Pizza & Plato: Students confer with faculty member Cathleen Muller at the Third Mid-Hudson Valley Undergraduate Conference, which featured work by students from Marist and seven other institutions.Texting, 16th-century style: Dr. John O'Neill, Head of Library at the Hispanic Society of America, gives Marist students a firsthand look at classic Spanish literature.Many students enrich their studies of politics, history, and rhetoric by taking on leadership roles in initiatives such as the College's annual Campus Sustainability Day. Scanning the Globe: Students in English professor Richard Grinnell's Shakespeare in London course experience Renaissance drama from a groundling's perspective.Working at the Marist Insitute for Public Opinion with nationally renowned expert Dr. Lee Miringoff gives students hands-on political science experience. The Blues History & Poetry course co-taught by history professor Steven Garabedian and English professor Lea Graham featured an on-campus performance by the The Vague Assurances. Food for thought: Students in philosophy professor Joseph Campisi's Honors course enjoy a farm-to-table meal as part of their investigation of ethical approaches to food.
