Visiting Scholars to Discuss Latin American History and Politics

On Friday, April 5, the History Department and African Diaspora Studies Program will host a talk by Dr. Marc Hertzman, Assistant Professor of Latin American and Iberian Cultures at Columbia University. The lecture will take place at 2:00 p.m. and is entitled "Mapping Africa and Brazil during Samba’s ‘Golden Age’ (1920s-1940s.)"

Latin American history and politics will also be the focus of a talk by Dr. Melina Pappademos, Associate Professor of History at the University of Connecticut. Entitled "Rethinking Black Racial Politics in Cuba after the Partido Independiente de Color," the lecture will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8.

Both events will take place in the Henry Hudson Room of Fontaine Hall and are free and open to the public.
