Dr. James Snyder Receives Board of Trustees Teaching Award

The School of Liberal Arts proudly recognizes Dr. James G. Snyder on the occasion of his winning the 2017 Board of Trustees Distinguished Teaching Award. As a scholar of Renaissance philosophy, faculty member in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, and Director of the Honors Program, Dr. Snyder works tirelessly to provide students with rich learning opportunities in the classroom and beyond. A partial list of his accomplishments include co-founding the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program and minor; initiating, along with departmental colleagues, the annual Mid-Hudson Valley Undergraduate Philosophy conference, now in its eighth year; launching the student-edited Marist Undergraduate Philosophy Journal; and integrating important new curricular and extracurricular elements into the College’s Honors Program. He is admired across the campus as a beloved mentor and stellar colleague. Congratulations, Dr. Snyder!
