Marist Theatre Program and Marist College Club
of Theatre Arts will present the Stephen Schwartz
rock musical Godspell on in the Nelly Goletti Theatre
on February 26, 27, & 28 at 8:00 p.m. and February 28
and March 1 at 2:00 p.m. Godspell features a cast
of 10 talented students (pictured above) and a memorable
score including "Day by Day" and "Light of the World."
Of particular note will be the February 28 matinee,
which will be an American Sign Language-interpreted
performance. Director Matt Andrews points out that
Godspell's themes of community make it "the perfect
vehicle to introduce a new element of theatre to local
audiences. Although ASL performances are regularly
practiced in professional theatre, I rarely find this opportunity
available in the Hudson River Valley. Our 2 ASL interpreters
will communicate the entire show, making it one that both
hearing and Deaf audiences can enjoy." A special staging
of the play has also been arranged for students in several area
schools. In addition, the February 28 matinee will be attended
by prospective students participating in the Theatre Open House
coordinated by Admissions.
Ticket prices for the performance will be $6 for students and $12 for adults. Discounted tickets are available for groups
and for members of the Deaf and hard of hearing community. To reserve seats in advance, please call the box office at
(845) 575-3133 or e-mail email@example.com.
Marist Theatre Program's busy Spring 2015 season will also include a Children's Theatre production of The Princess
King and a festival of original student-written plays. In the summer, the Program will host a Summer Pre-College
Theatre Institute open to high school students.
